Editing Web Transactions Scouts with Power Automate and Honeycomb

Posted on January 11, 2024

A user asked about editing Web Transactions scouts through the Scoutbee API, but there is currently no support for this. The user was wondering if it would be possible to use Power Automate to adjust the assert test for dynamic dates. @member asked for more details about the use case and suggested a potential solution using a scheduled job. The user clarified that they need to adjust the assert test almost every day and discussed a possible flow using Power Automate to check with another API for the correct assert text. @member explained that this can be done through connecting to Honeycomb and the scout would give an error if the text is missing.

Read the entire ‘Editing Web Transactions Scouts with Power Automate and Honeycomb’ thread below:

We are trying to use the Web Transaction to test if a table cell contains a dynamic date with the assert text. I cant find a way to edit the scout by a api-call. When will the Scoutbee API get the support to edit Web Transactions scouts?

Or can we test the assert with %variables% somehow?

@member

Hi Andreas,

We do not have firm plan for that.

Could you elaborate on the use case? Do you need to change the content of the assert test every day, and are you looking to accomplish this through a scheduled job that will modify the scout configuration daily or as needed?

We need to adjust the assert test almost every day and was looking for using Power Automate to adjust the test.

The flow would look something like this:

  1. Power Automate checks with another API what the assert text should be, in this case a date.
  2. Power Automate connects to Honeycomb and set the correct assert text,
  3. The scout would give us a correct error if the text is missing.
