Setting up ControlUp SMTP on ControlUp

Posted on February 21, 2023

A user asked for help setting up ControlUp SMTP, including what the Server Address should be. It should be the email address of the local machine, while Google needs to be configured. It was suggested to use "CUAlerts@yourdomain.com" as the Sender address, with the server name being the local SMTP server and the port at 25. A helpful Google document at https://support.google.com/a/answer/176600?hl=en#:~:text=%20Set%20up%20SMTP%20relay%20service%20%201,following%20the%20steps%20in%20SMTP%20relay%3A…%20See%20More was provided.

Read the entire ‘Setting up ControlUp SMTP with Google Configuration’ thread below:

Good morning! I am trying to setup the SMTP for ControlUP what is suppose to be in Server Address? Would it be the imap or IP address of the local machine…both are not working. Thank you in advance.

wouldn’t sender address be something like: ControlUp@yourdomain.com?

I tried that and it is not working.

Doesn’t gmail need some configuration to send

sender address is the from line in SMTP. So it would have to be an email address.

To piggyback off of Dennis it would be the following example.

Sender address: CUAlerts@yourdomain.com

Server Name: Your Local SMTP Server

Port: 25
