A user was having issues removing and re-adding servers in their environment that hadn’t been used for years, and received a generic error. The user was advised to remove the regkey as described in Computer already belongs to another ControlUp organization – Managed Computers. The user managed to get the servers working, and asked how long it would take for CPU/memory historical data to show in the graphs. It takes 1-2 hours for the data to get to the historical views, but this will change soon once streaming (a new method for historic data) is enabled, and it will be almost instant.
Read the entire ‘Remove & Re-add Old, Unused Servers – How Long for Historical Data?’ thread below:
we have some servers in an old sub-org under our environment that hasn’t been used for years that we want to remove and re-add in our current. running into an error like this. any ideas how we can take care of it?
What type of servers are these? Are they old monitor servers?
if they have the CU agent from an incorrect org you will need to start removing the regkey as described here: Computer already belongs to another ControlUp organization – Managed Computers
But the error you are getting is very generic, do you get this while adding the machine? In that case please open a support ticket so they can supply you with a log4net file to catch whats really happening
thanks guys…..we had to do a few different thing to “clean” it up but got it going so thanks for the quick responses! on a different note i think this is more a Solve question but once you add a new machine in, how long does it take before the cpu/memory historical data shows in the graph where you can click the datapoints and all that?
@member to answer your question, they were just normal servers that we used to monitor
data takes about 1-2 hours to get into the historical vies. This will change soon once streaming (new method for historic data) is enabled, from then it’s almost instant
ok perfect thanks! my server guys were battling a server that was getting stuck at 100% cpu and eventually blue screening so i offered to add it in here to see if we can get any data so we’ll see!
