How to send an email via SMTP in ControlUp?
A user asked about sending an email via a SMTP server - two options were provided: go to "Settings > Monitors" and select "Monitor Settings", or use the "Send an email alert using local SMTP" action when running a trigger. Why is My Advanced Trigger in ControlUp Not Functioning Correctly for Long-Running Processes?
A user was having trouble with a trigger set up to identify a process that has been running too long, resulting in either false positives or no action taken. Suggestions were made to set up a scheduled trigger with invoke-cuquery and possibly use invoke-cuaction with Remote PowerShell for the killing of the process. A suggestion was also made to open a support ticket. Another user also highlighted the filter on Start Time in the GUI as not being useful for the things they needed it for.

Setting up ControlUp SMTP on ControlUp
A user asked for help setting up ControlUp SMTP, including what the Server Address should be. It should be the email address of the local machine, while Google needs to be configured. How to give access to ControlUp insights without giving access to the Controlup Console
The discussion considered what options are available for providing access to Insights data for third-party users without access to the ControlUp console. While registering in the console is necessary, uploading a CSV file with UPNs can be done with the Login Setup feature in 8.7. Insights will be deprecated soon and, as some customer's security policies can remove accounts if they are not used after a certain amount of time, there is the option of creating a bogus user with an email distribution. There are no limitations on the number of users in ControlUp itself, though some Microsoft licenses may be consumed based on a single AD account.

How to Configure Office 365 SMTP Server with the ControlUp Console?
A user asked whether the ControlUp Console could use the Office 365 SMTP for alerts. It was suggested to use the "local" SMTP, a cloud-based one and/or Gmail's SMTP. The user then tested in a lab with port 25 and found it to be working, subsequently confirming it with PowerShell outside of ControlUp.
