A user asked if there’s a way to use ControlUp Edge DX to track slow shutdown/reboot times. The ControlUp agent stops collecting data once a computer starts shutting down, so currently there is no way to track this in real time. However, there is a possibility of adding functionality for this in the future.

Does anyone know if there’s a way to use Edge DX to track why a computer is taking an excessive amount of time to shutdown/reboot? ControlUp has a great utility to track logon speeds but what about rebooting/shutting down?
I think the biggest problem is timing. The moment the agent stops, there’s no more data being collected. The only way would be if we take a similar approach as what we do for BSOD, which is looking at event log data after the fact (so on next start), but for a bsod it’s typically captured in one or two events, whereas during a machine shutdown there’s much more. This is not currently functionality that’s in the product
