A member asked if it was possible to use the number of samples as a filter when monitoring WIFI signal strength. Another member suggested using a NOT filter on the Wifi Name or using an AND filter to only show desired WiFi information. The issue was that there were over 2000 WIFI AP’s and the member wanted to track which ones were delivering subpar performance to endpoints. It was suggested to use workflows to achieve this, and an offer was made to help set it up.

Hi,
Is there any way that you can use the number of samples of a value as a filter.
We are trying to monitor WIFI Signal strength, and have a lot of bssid entries that have low values, but also only 1 or 2 samples over a 24h period.
This does not give us a true picture of the environment.
In the ideal world, it would be nice te specify the number of samples as a percentage of available samples within the chosen timerange, but that might only be a dream……….
Hi @member currently samples is generated by the query that the widget runs and it isn’t a saved value in the index. And we dont have filtering on it yet. For now I would suggest filtering unwanted Wifi out by eiter using a NOT filter on the Wifi Name, or you can make sure the dashboard only shows the WiFi’s you want to see by using a AND filter on the Wifi Name. This is very good feedback to filter out low samples and we will look into it!
Thank for the input.
The issues is that we have over 2000 WIFI AP’s where we would like to monitor the experienced quality by the endpoint.
They are all on the same SSID, but a machine can during the day be on more than 100 different AP’s (radios) and would like to be able to track which AP’s are delivering a sub par performance to the endpoint
I understand so you do want to see the worst ones but it should have a minimum amount of samples.. We can btw do this with a workflow but that ofc requires setting up a workflow
Thanks,
Just wondered if it was possible to do this without workflows, but will look into using workflows to give the desired data
Yeah let me know I can take some time and look together with you at a workflow to get the data your want and then show it in a dashboard. I have room in my agenda this week !
