Widespread Zoom.exe + AMD Radeon Driver Crash Resolved by Upgrading to Zoom 6.5+

ControlUp’s Innovation Guild crash-detection pipeline uncovered a recurring crash affecting Zoom installations running alongside AMD Radeon graphics drivers. The signature consistently pointed to atidxx64.dll, indicating a driver-level failure triggered by specific Zoom versions.

Multiple customers across environments experienced repeated Zoom.exe failures, impacting meeting stability and overall endpoint experience. The affected pattern was broad enough to be classified as a widespread issue across dozens of organizations.

Upgrade Zoom from 6.4.x to 6.5 or higher, which our aggregated, anonymized telemetry shows eliminates the crashing behavior entirely. This fix does not appear to be widely documented by Zoom or the wider IT community.
