An inquiry was asked about how the 5-minute minimum duration of a trigger in ControlUp is tracked – it must stay above the threshold for the full duration in order to be valid. Wouter clarified that the counter is reset if the metric dips below the threshold at any point.

Hey all,
When you have a trigger that has a minimum duration in new state set to say 5 minutes, how is that 5 minute duration tracked? Two interpretations:
- Does the trigger see a metric above threshold, start a 5 minute timer, then checks the state 5 minutes later to compare the before and after?
- Does the 5 minute duration imply that the metric was continuously above threshold for each interval in that 5 minute window?
it has to stay above the threshold for that time, if it goes below the counter gets reset
Perfect, thank you Wouter!
