Should the ‘Upgrade Existing DB’ Option be Used During the ControlUp Upgrade?

A user asked whether the ‘Upgrade Existing DB’ option in the COP installation wizard should be used during the upgrade. It is only necessary to use this option if the existing database is empty, otherwise the installer will detect the existing database and upgrade the schema to match 8.7 during the time of upgrade.

Hello, I recently upgraded to 8.7 and followed the documentation. I just "discovered" the "Upgrade Existing DB" option in the COP installation wizard.

There is no mention of this option in the doc other than in https://support.controlup.com/docs/controlup-on-premises-database#preparation-for-production-mode.

Should I actually use this option now, or was it done during the ugrade ?

During the upgrade the installer will detect the existing database and upgrade the schema to match 8.7 during the time of upgrade. If the database is there but empty it assumes its a new install and builds the schema from scratch.
