Does ControlUp Support Nutanix Files?

Posted on January 24, 2023

A user asked if ControlUp supports Nutanix Files, and it was mentioned that while Nutanix Files specific metrics cannot be seen, AHV can be added for lots of storage information. EdgeDX from ControlUp is a different product and cannot be installed on an FSVM. It was suggested that adding Nutanix CE CVM nodes & Prism Central VM’s to ControlUp via Retouw.nl could give some insights. Furthermore, CIFS shares or SMB Protocols can be tested for availability using ScoutBees or a scheduled trigger that starts an SBA and alerts if anything fails.

Triggering ControlUp Automation with Scoutbees Alerts

Posted on January 16, 2023

A user asked if an alert from Scoutbees can trigger a ControlUp automated action. It was suggested to run scripts using ControlUp Automation to interact with Scoutbees. An idea was proposed to create an error log in the events, and for ControlUp RealTime to trigger an automation from that event. Additionally, writing a script to either put the server into maintenance mode or reboot was considered. ControlUp RealTime currently only has the ability to execute native actions through PowerShell commandlets and the follow up actions can call web hooks.

Finding Multiple User Sessions for a Specific Application in ControlUp

Posted on January 11, 2023

A user asked for the best way to see which users are running multiple sessions of the same application. It was suggested to use the "published application usage details report" or the "Session - Activity" report, and to further narrow down the required data, use PowerShell API. It was also mentioned that the result needs to be run on a monitor. The full instruction can be found at https://support.controlup.com/v1/docs/invoke-cuquery#example-6-search-for-all-machines-with-the-name-monitor.

Troubleshooting Abnormal Alerts from Scoutbees EUC

Posted on January 11, 2023

A user reported above-average alerts from Scoutbees EUC scouts in Frankfurt. It was suggested to set up an extra hive to exclude any issue within the existing one. The ControlUp team could not confirm any change has been made in the VDI environment, and suggested to manually access the tested resources to validate the credentials. Support was contacted to troubleshoot the issue further and the user indicated they will be monitoring the issue in the coming days.

Questions on using ControlUp’s Shell Execution Feature in Production

Posted on December 29, 2022

A user asked about using ControlUp's shell execution feature in production and shared an example of a script that tests a file share every few minutes. It was suggested to grant everyone access to the file share, or to create a text file with everyone having access. The user mentioned System on the custom hive not having access to network shares and requested the ability to run shell scripts under a service account.

Monitoring VeloCloud SD-WAN Routers with ControlUp Scoutbees

Posted on December 17, 2022

A user asked about monitoring VeloCloud SD-WAN routers with Scoutbees or script actions. The respondent suggested availability could be monitored using a ping or http/s test, while a more advanced solution could be done with the shell test. For deeper performance monitoring, it depends on the router's OS - for a supported Linux flavor Edge DX may be an option. Syslog capabilities and the operating system should be investigated to check for other options.

How are the credentials saved on ControlUp Scoutbees for a published App/Desktop scout?

Posted on December 15, 2022

Credentials for Apps/Desktops on Scoutbees are encrypted either in a database or with AWS-vault, depending on whether the Scout is running on a cloud hive or a custom hive. When configuring a custom hive, the credentials are stored only locally in a file. For further information see https://controlupcommunity.slack.com/archives/C046DUGB6M9/p1668549692870029.

Finding Out About SSO Integration for ControlUp Products

Posted on December 13, 2022

A user asked about SSO integration with Solve and Insights, as well as the integration of Scout Bees and whether it is necessary to configure Solve and Insights separately with the IDP. The user was informed that Solve and Insight can be accessed via Solve, and that Insights will be ported over into Solve, with the data upload process and dependency on s3 being removed. An update is expected in about a week or two, and the user was advised to contact their CSM or sales team for more unofficial details.
