Managing Duplicate Windows Endpoints in ControlUp DEX Console

Posted on June 11, 2024

The team discussed a possible issue with duplicate Windows endpoints in the DEX console and how to handle them. A unique uid is created when the agent is deployed and can cause duplicate machines if the agent is reinstalled or the machine is reimaged. It was suggested to let the cleanup process take care of this, but there may be a way to register by name to avoid duplicate entries. More details can be found in this thread: https://controlupcommunity.slack.com/archives/C0467CPGDM4/p1688761816455149

Understanding SecureDX Issues and Managing Security Control Scans

Posted on June 10, 2024

A user noticed that the SecureDX Issues page has been updated to include new apps, including Carbon Black. However, the page shows that Carbon Black is unavailable and the user is unsure how to edit the apps or why they are not being detected. Others chimed in to explain that security controls can be checked through scans or device inventory, and the unavailable status means there is no built-in remediation for the app. It was suggested to disable the unnecessary controls in the template to avoid confusion. The issue was resolved and the user was able to scan for just Carbon Black.

Another user suggested using the "Events" tab at the bottom for live events, while another recommended using Powershell to retrieve events captured through incidents. The "Top Windows Events" report in DEX was also suggested as a potential resource.
