A discussion took place regarding the process of remediation for patching and whether the device reaches out to a CDN or pulls directly from the vendor website. ControlUp has tools for analyzing network impact, including the ability to disable the default CDN and download patches directly. The location where patches are downloaded and stored was also mentioned. The impact on the network will depend on the type of update, but patches are downloaded as compressed files and then uncompressed during deployment.

Is anyone familiar with which process remediation occurs specifically for patching. Does the device reach out to a CDN? Trying to find some documentation on the exact process.
Should be in docs. But you can either use the ControlUp CDN or the agent will pull directly from vendor website
I see that. Are there any tools within control up to analyze the impact to the network or would we need to test and check with our tools?
That is e default CDN that remediations are down loaded from. you can disable this and reach out direct to vendors
C:\ProgramData\ControlUp\SecureDX\data\patches
they will be downloaded to this location and after they have been deployed they are then deleted
they are download as per needed
the impact will depend on the application of os update, but they are download as compressed patchas and them uncompressed
