How to send to email using a scheduled ControlUp Trigger?

Posted on July 27, 2023

Via scheduled triggers, users were unable to send an email using ControlUp’s backend. ControlUp does not generate incidents from this trigger by design, as it is likely to run on a large scale. An alternative option was suggested to use a Windows event and the email follow up action is already removed as an option. The Academy can be found at https://cuacademy.controlup.com/

Anyone know why you cant send to email using a scheduled trigger? You can only use SMTP and mine is currently not working

yeah i see what you mean i had not noticed that

That will be a problem for me as not all sites i have access to a SMTP server#

@member is email feature been phased out going forward

@member u could run script create an windows event that then can be trigered and a mail send via a normal trigger

its a round about way but if ur desprate

@member any idea why that option is not available? I know there might have been some options left on the table during the initial implementation but not sure if there was a specific reason for not having the email option for scheduled triggers

doesnt make sense to my why one type of trigger wouldnt have the same options as the rest of them

As far as I’m aware:

Email through ControlUp backend is not available by design. As scheduled triggers are able and in many cases likely to run on a very large scale.

They also do not generate incidents for the same reason.

maybe that option should be removed and not the default then?

Im not sure what you mean. The email follow up action doesn’t exist for scheduled triggers so it is already removed
