How to Configure CVAD Maintenance Mode from a CVAD Integration in a ControlUp Trigger

Posted on May 25, 2023

A user asked about using the CVAD Maintenance Mode from an integration in a trigger. The account was using shared credentials and the Monitor/Data Source connection seemed ok. It was suggested that the user use an Advanced Trigger and select the "Include newly discovered devices" option and use the "Disable CVAD machine maintenance mode" script action to enable the machine. The user was also recommended to check out the Trigger Packs article. The link for the Disable CVAD machine maintenance mode is https://github.com/controlup/script-library/tree/master/Disable%20CVAD%20machine%20maintenance%20mode and the Trigger Packs article is found at https://support.controlup.com/docs/trigger-packs.

Posted on May 15, 2023

This script is designed to measure the time it takes for a VM to start and accept the first user connection when the containing host pool is set to "Start VM on connect". It can be used with an Azure resource ID and tenant ID, and requires credentials to be configured beforehand. The script works with Azure AVD and is hypervisor independent, but it is unknown if it works with an on-prem hypervisor like VMWare or with Azure HCI.

How to: Service Account for a Monitor in ControlUp

Posted on February 21, 2023

A user asked about setting a service account for a Monitor - the user had already created the shared credential with the necessary permissions. The user was unsure if the Monitor needed an additional service account when performing actions requiring the 'Allow Log on as a Service' permission. It was clarified that the shared credential could be set as the Monitor service account / domain identity through the ControlUp Console. The user found the article 'User Permissions in ControlUp' (https://support.controlup.com/docs/user-permissions-in-controlup) helpful.

How to Edit “Shared Credentials” in Folder Selection in ControlUp Real-Time DX

Posted on February 3, 2023

A user asked why they cannot edit the "Shared Credentials" security option on a folder selection. They are not the Roles manager, and another user could edit it. The other user mentioned Agents don't use shared credentials, and typically you don't allow the shared creds globally. There is worry for giving EUC team rights to the servers and VDI workstations in the same hypervisor cluster, and the suggestion was giving read-only permission in the console only without granting the "Run Host Actions".

Error “there was an error accessing the service” on an EUC environment

Posted on January 18, 2023

A user encountered an error accessing the service in their EUC environment, even when the broker was available and accessible on port 80 and shared credentials were working. They tried port 443 but the same error occurred. It was suggested that they use the Data Collector's installed Citrix PoSh SDK to see why it was failing, but were unable to do so due to no trust between domains. The user suggested it had been working until some days ago. It was suggested to look at the other side as all parts on the ControlUp side were working.
