The team discussed the availability of the Big Screen Dashboard in Power BI, with the answer being no but with a bit of possibility. The Dashboard is designed specifically for real-time use, which Power BI is not suited for. However, a blog post will be published next week on how to translate a Grafana widget to Power BI, allowing for similar insights. The team is also working on a ControlUp Innovation Guild space within the product for easy access to dashboards.

Hi all,
I’m getting some questions about whether the Big Screen Dashboard is available in Power BI.
The answer is no — and a bit yes. It’s important to keep in mind that the Big Screen Dashboard is designed as a real-time live dashboard for IT helpdesks and operations centers. By default, Power BI is not suited for this use case, as it first queries the data and then renders the dashboard — meaning the data shown is never truly real-time and will not be automatically refreshed.
That being said, we do want to encourage you to take inspiration from what we’ve built and bring similar insights into Power BI. That’s why next week, we will publish a blog post explaining how to translate a Grafana widget to Power BI — making it easy for you to replicate key elements of the Big Screen Dashboard in Power BI.
In parallel, we are working hard on creating a CIG (ControlUp Innovation Guild) space inside the product, which will allow us to provide this and other dashboards without any setup required on the your side (no time line yet). Stay tuned!
