How to configure SBA for alerting when an FSLogix container size exceeds a threshold

Posted on December 5, 2022

Members asked for an SBA that allows to alert when an FSLogix container size exceeds a threshold. Through a configuration process the actions should be finalized and a "User Logged On" trigger should be created. An event will be written to the Application Log when a user’s VHD is outside the threshold and a "Windows Event" trigger can trigger any action. An 8.8 BETA program will be available in Q1 23 and those interested can reach out to @member and @member.

Read the entire ‘Alerting When an FSLogix Containers Exceeds a Threshold’ thread below:

A few community members asking for this. SBA for alerting when an FSLogix container size exceeds a threshold.

  1. Import SBA and configure thresholds in the arguments section, verify it is running using shared creds (requires permission to write to eventlog, read HKLM registry, and read File Share where VHDs are located).
  2. "Finalize" the SBA once edits are complete so it can run as part of an automation.
  3. Create a "User Logged On" trigger that will run for all FSLogix users, and specify this SBA to run as the action. An event will now be written to the Application Log with the VHD details whenever a users VHD is outside the threshold.
  4. Create a "Windows Event" trigger that will run whenever there is an event with the same EventID you specified in the SBA. You can specify any action you want but I’m guessing most will just want an email with the event details (contains VHD sizes and summary).

There’s more help info in the script section, but ping me if you need a hand with this…

FYI

Great job, this is awesome.

For the community members not aware, FSLogix is a strategic focus for us and a more seamless integration will be part of the next real-time DX release (8.8). Expect more metrics to trigger from, and yes you can even track empty blocks which is a popular feature request.

8.8 is currently in active development with a BETA programme in Q1 23, if you are interested in testing the FSLogix feature in 8.8 please make yourself known to @member.

Alternatively if you are interested in seeing this early and feeding into the development, please reach out to me direct and we can make that happen.
