Troubleshooting a Drop in Managed Devices on ControlUp

Posted on February 27, 2025

Multiple users reported a sudden drop in the number of managed devices in ControlUp, with one mentioning a similar issue with the pie graph on the main page. After some troubleshooting and submitting a ticket, the issue seems to have been resolved. It was suggested to check the "Remove Devices after XX days" setting and try using an incognito browser. Please submit a ticket if the issue persists.

Read the entire ‘Troubleshooting a Drop in Managed Devices on ControlUp’ thread below:

Has anyone noticed the number of managed devices dropping for an inexplicable reason the last day or so? We have 8600 managed devices but we’re only showing 5600 in ControlUp now

Has your "pie graph" on devices – details main page dropped from 8600 to 5600 or do you only see 5600 devices online ?

The pie graph. It’s up to 5800ish now

So it’s going back up….

If you do an export you do see all your devices 8600 ?

the details tab keeps spinning on us and we get a "something went wrong!" notification.

Probably best to submit a ticket at this point.

Yes please do. Very odd behavior. I was going to ask you if you can check to see if the Remove Devices after XX days settings is enabled.

Have you tried in an incognito browser as well?

Hi Clint – I didn’t see your response, apologies for the late reply.

We do have that setting enabled (14 days) and tested it with incognito mode/different browsers.

I submitted a ticket earlier this morning and the issue seems to be resolved as of 30 minutes ago or so.
