Several users discussed the compatibility of ControlUp with XenServer 8.4, with one confirming that several customers have successfully used ControlUp with this version. ControlUp is currently looking into adding CPU wait metrics specific to the new XS version. There is some concern about explicit support for XS 8.4 but it is concluded that ControlUp has aided customers with issues related to this version.

Hi, we have a customer that is about to move onto Citrix Hypervisor (XenServer) v8.4 but are concerned since they cannot find support for XenServer v8.4 explicitly stated … can we confirm that XenServer v8.4 is explicitly supported in latest v9.x version of ControlUp for VDI…?
We have several customers that run XenServer 8.4. I’ll let @member comment on whether we’d explicitly support XenServer 8.4 as I can’t make that decision.
But judging from the fact that we worked on a 8.4 issue in ~March this year. I would assume so. By the way, the dev item I am referring to turned out to be a XenServer issue that was addressed by Citrix with a hotfix. It is just meant to illustrate we have helped customers deal with 8.4 issues, hence implying we support it.
Hi, thank you; really appreciate the feedback. We are currently engaged with this customer and helping them to deploy XenServer, starting with a XS design, and we (naturally) want to include ControlUp in the design when it comes to design recommendations for how to monitor XS. So I guess as long as XS v8.4 is not un-supported (e.g. if customer has an issue they can open a ticket with CU) then we will inform customer that we are good to go with planning to use CU to monitor XS.
Hi Pat and thanks Dennis. We have been working with several customers on their 8.4 Xen Server environments. I will note that there are some new CPU metrics that are included in the new XS version that we do not currently capture, but we are currently looking into adding the CPU wait metrics for a future addition.
Ahh okay very cool and thank you for the insight! We did an initial connection and it picked up the servers in the XS resource pool so looks like we are off and running.
