A user asked how to set permissions for first-level support to logoff user sessions - the recommendation is to keep everything as "Not Set" and set specific permissions to "Allow". For more information, there is an article on creating a read-only permission set at https://support.controlup.com/v1/docs/security-policy-view-only-role.

Investigating Unusual Behavior on ControlUp VDI’s
ControlUp experienced weird issues in their environment, where VDI's were ignoring all policies and scanning their drive. Microsoft Defender Engine 4.8.2210.6 was identified as the cause and a rebuild was done using the latest 4.8.2211.5 engine to fix it. Other users were asked if they have experienced a similar issue. It was further clarified that the engine was not supposed to be scanning the drives but the process itself was pulling data from the PVS server. Investigations found that most systems couldn't give the version of the process and the instances that did didn't show any spike in I/O.

Running a ControlUp Automated Action fails with EventID 5005
A user experienced an error when running an automated action with EventID 5005 due to UAC being enabled. The user then ran the action as a specific user that had rights to start VMs in vCentral, and it was suggested that the action could be run from a Monitor server instead. Any logs can be shared by opening a ticket or in private with support. ControlUp has a log4net script action available to investigate this issue further. The registry key EnableLUA will be read if the script is set to "controlup console/monitor".

Finding Out About SSO Integration for ControlUp Products
A user asked about SSO integration with Solve and Insights, as well as the integration of Scout Bees and whether it is necessary to configure Solve and Insights separately with the IDP. The user was informed that Solve and Insight can be accessed via Solve, and that Insights will be ported over into Solve, with the data upload process and dependency on s3 being removed. An update is expected in about a week or two, and the user was advised to contact their CSM or sales team for more unofficial details.

Anyone have experience with ControlUp Edge DX & XenApp provisioned TS / VDI?
A user asked about experience with EdgeDX and XenApp provisioned TS/VDI and was recommended to deploy RealTimeDX instead due to its stateless nature and the fact that it will need rebooting to change the device ID and lose historical reports. To overcome this for Teams Monitoring, the user could install the EdgeDX Agent with a known switch, make a hardcoded link from the C and D drives, and set the custom RegisterWithDeviceName setting to be true. The user then asked if this was officially supported and if it would be coming to EdgeDX or Realtime/Solve, and was told that it is very interesting.

Testing File Share Availability Using a Shell Scout
A user asked about testing file share availability which can be done wtih a Shell Scout - this can be done using a PowerShell script that checks the share and exits with a code != 0 if it fails. To handle permission access issues, a PowerShell script can be amended by adding a credential to the test-path command. More information can be found at: https://support.controlup.com/docs/shell-execution and https://devblogs.microsoft.com/scripting/powertip-test-the-presence-of-a-remote-share-by-using-powershell/.

Don’t see local network drive mappings as we are used to see when connecting trough traditional RDP or other RDP managers in ControlUp
A user reported that UNC mapped drives do not appear in the Remote Desktop feature from the Realtime Console, even when the "Drives" option is enabled in the configuration. It was confirmed by @member and understood that waiting on the implementation in Solve in necessary. The user suggested an additional master setting that would allow admins to control pasting in and out of RDP sessions if they wish.

A user had difficulty getting ControlUp Monitor to collect data from their VMs. Suggestions include creating a separate role for their Monitor service account and creating a separate service account with access to the computer objects in the farm and AD reader permissions. Experiencing Poor Performance in Remote DX on VMs?
Users have experienced poor performance when using ControlUp Remote DX on virtual machines, and wondered if others have had similar issues. It was suggested that they try RDP on a physical machine to test the issue, and to use LDAP or SAML with Solve instead of VNCing through a jump-box. As a workaround, users can minimize their VM for the app they need, which is a little inconvenient, but can make their lives easier.

Error “Customer does not have the privilege to see the cost” while adding Azure Enviromment to Real-Time DX
A user tried to add an Azure Environment to ControlUp but encountered an error. It was suggested that the customer may be an MSP with a CSP agreement, and if so, a workaround is available with the upcoming 8.8 version involving the setting of a registry key. The user tried creating the key but the error persisted, and it was suggested to restart the Agent service on their Data Collector.
