Troubleshooting Connection Server Active Connections in ControlUp Desktop Console

Posted on June 19, 2024

A user asked for help locating "HZ Connection Server Active Connections" in the ControlUp desktop console to create a trigger, but it was not available. ControlUp support confirmed it as an internal property and suggested a workaround by creating a trigger on a different metric and then modifying the filter xml to replace it with "HzTotalConnections". The user successfully implemented this workaround. More details can be found at https://support.controlup.com/docs/vmware-horizon-integration-columns-grids-overview.

I am attempting to make a trigger with the data "HZ Connection Server Active Connections". This support document lists it as being underneath "Machines". https://support.controlup.com/docs/vmware-horizon-integration-columns-grids-overview

I am able to see it in the web console beneath "Connection Servers" but I’m not able to locate it in the desktop console to create a trigger. Any ideas on where this may be?

Hey @member

This metric is defined as an internal property – it’s interesting that we show this value in VDI & DaaS. We file a bug on this and let you know about the status

you can still create a trigger on this if you’re okay with a little bit of a workaround:

• create a trigger on a different (placeholder) metric

• export said trigger

• modify the filter xml

• replace the placeholder metric with HzTotalConnections

• import the trigger

Thanks @member, I just tried this method and the field filled in with the desired "friendly name" in the console so I think this is going to do the trick!
