A user reported that the CSV exports from the ControlUp Monitor were broken due to certain patterns and line endings, making it difficult to process the data. Another user suggested using export-cuquery instead, and it was noted that the monitor exports have been deprecated and will be replaced. The deprecation was not yet communicated to customers, but will be mentioned in the 9.1 release notes.

Hey guys does anyone use the CSV exports from the monitor? I walked through 4 environments now and I found that all exports are fundamentally broken, there are some patterns (like multiple IP addresses or MAC’s, etc. that always break the CSV line which makes it virtually impossible to postprocess those CSV’s.
Just wondering if anybody else sees this. If it would be one environment … ¯_(ツ)_/¯ but it seems to be broken almost everywhere.
Technically speaking line endings in CSV values are valid. As long as they are encapsulated with double quotes. But having said that, a lot of tools (like Excel) don’t necessarily agree. At which point it doesn’t matter if it is technically valid.
You should consider using export-cuquery instead. That’ll give you more control over the data.
Sounds reasonable, i wanted transform to jsonanyway 🙂 now i can streamline this…
the monitor exports have been deprecated (not sure if official) and will be going away. So indeed please use export-cuquery as the monitor exports are also (in large orgs!) known to potentially cause issues
Good to know, but it would be great for us as CU Partner to get some heads up about this as we’d like to get our customers using this prepared 😉
I know we discussed this but was the deprecation of the monitor exports communicated to customers?
Hi
You are right, this is for 9.1 and we haven’t communicated this yet. We have deprecated Monitor Export Scheduler in favor of Export-CUQuery. We will add this to the release notes accordingly
If you need help with building the query to export the data with Export-CUQuery, let me know. We can definitely help you here
