Tweaks to Web Reporting in CSV Requested Since First Capabilities

Posted on October 23, 2023

Users have been requesting tweaks to web reporting since the first capabilities, such as reports in their local timezone being properly formatted when exported as CSV. A Uservoice item is open for this issue, but the user was struggling to get usable data from the time/date fields when exported – Power and Session Events in CSV were all in UTC. They were hoping for help with this, and the comment was updated with assurance.

Read the entire ‘Tweaks to Web Reporting in CSV Requested Since First Capabilities’ thread below:

this may be more of a feature request vs issue but going back as far as I can remember w/ CU web historical reports viewing the data in the browser gives the proper date/time format for our timezone, however exporting the data in csv format is in UTC so requires a lot of extra work to try and convert , and then its technically manipulating the data which i try not to do. (pdf output is pretty useless usually since the needed data a lot of times is in the session details and the bars in the graph don’t really give you any details unless i’m missing it). any advice how to make this less painful? specifically i run into this w/ session data (active / idle) and then the laptop session events (lock/unlock/power)

ironically these session reports tweaking requests go way back to even before CU’s first historical web reporting capabilities and several times I was told it was being addressed but always seemed to fall through the cracks

There’s a uservoice item open for this.

@member meaning theres something in the works on this already? currently i’m working w/ our HR dept needing to get some reports on this and the export csv data is kind of weird…..the session activity report csv data shows the date/time stamp in our time zone but the fields seem to be formatted very differently so i am unable to do any kind of format changes (if i want it to not be military time, all show the same format, etc). (images below) . Also the Power and Session Events report, in the web it shows the user friendly time/date data like usual but in this case the csv export is all in UTC and time/date in the same field and I am struggling to get this data to a usable format for us. I’m going to be getting requests for a batch of people today and not sure how i can get usable data

@member, I will check and update.

@member thank you! Appreciate the help
