A user asked about using the Trigger Export feature between different environments and GUID IDs. It was discovered that any organization-specific things need to be re-selected after importing, and the documentation team will document this further. The Trigger can display a yellow warning exclamation point if values are missing, and testing will be done to confirm this. ControlUp Stress Trigger template exports will be compared to validate.

Enhancing Historical Session States in the ControlUp Console
This discussion suggested adding a drilldown or popup when clicking on the "live" real-time session in Discovery Sessions in the ControlUp console, allowing for historical session states to be readily seen. Insights were discussed as well as the invoke-cuquery command with the mentioned session fields. Historical Reports can be found in Session Details of a specific session under the "right click" action menu. Following this conversation, a feature request was made with the Customer Success Manager for a historical reports drilldown from a drilled down machine, and a bug was identified in Solve.

Joining session data with client_name using session_object_guid with Splunk app usage search
The user was struggling to join session data with their search results to include the client_name as an additional column. It was determined that the process_base source should use the session_object_guid to join the session_base to find the client_name. A joining process was outlined that would filter the subset of session to less than 50k. The user asked for an example of this process and was provided with one. The final result should include date, time, username, client_name, computer_name, and process_name.

Troubleshooting General VDI Slowness with Multiple Screens
A user asked for help in finding the source of general slowness in a VMware environment with 4-6 screens, no GPUs, and W10 Kiosks. ControlUp is being used to identify the bottleneck but CPU and RAM are not the source. GPU memory was discussed as a possible bottleneck, and it was suggested to check settings like Display memory limit, CPU metrics, network connectivity and RTT times, plus the fact that the EDT protocol can help. The user later reported that their lobbying for GPUs paid off, and they are getting 12 servers with 2xAmpere A16 GPUs.

Investigating Discrepancies in ControlUp Columns
The user discussed the difference between two columns in ControlUp's KB - TimeSpan is based on a specific timezone and Uptime is calculated from the LastBootTime. Uptime in minutes is the difference between the same Uptime converted to DateTime and the local machine's DateTime. Now, which can be queried in PowerShell through Get-WmiObject or System.DateTime.Now. Further information can be found in the ControlUp support documentation at https://support.controlup.com/docs/monitor-cluster-powershell-fields-by-table?highlight=Uptime%20in%20minutes.

Is it Possible to Run Monitor Cmdlets in a Remote Session?
A user asked if it is possible to run the monitor cmdlets in a remote session. The answer was no, as it is a limitation of WCF and the use of named pipes. Process Monitor and Process Explorer were suggested to help, but this is only a temporary solution. Dennis Geerlings was mentioned - it is jokingly said that every day is Dennis Geerlings day at ControlUp.

How to Setting Up an Alert in ControlUp Edge DX
The user was trying to set up an Alert, but could not get desired results. Following advice from others, it was suggested to use "like" instead of "=" for anything Event_, set the event source as "cu agent" and make sure to collect the event. Changing "=" to "contains" did the job. For future reference, it was asked why "contains" should be used for event logs.

Help Troubleshooting External Monitor Not Turning Off At Night
A user experienced an issue where their external monitor wouldn't turn off at night, even with the "Night Light" turned off. Suggestions were given to check "powercfg/requests" to see what process was requesting the display to stay on, and to use the same command line to override the request. It was mentioned that the suggestions were for Windows and not Ubuntu.
