Ask a question, get a grounded answer from your own environment. That is the idea behind the ControlUp AI Assistant. In this Community Meetup, Shay Dezaldety (AI Product Manager at ControlUp) walks through exactly how it works, what it can do today, and where it is heading.
Shay covers the plumbing behind the assistant, including the integration layer and the APIs it uses to select the right tools and data sources rather than relying on generic model knowledge. That is what enables it to investigate real issues in your ControlUp environment and return explanations and remediation guidance based on your data.
Governance gets serious airtime too. The assistant respects your existing RBAC model, uses data isolation controls, and does not use customer data to train public models. Anything that changes the environment requires human approval, so you get automation without giving up administrator control.
You will also get practical prompting tips, an honest look at where AI falls short, and a live demo: finding users with poor digital experience, digging into root causes like low memory and Wi-Fi problems, analyzing incidents across devices, and kicking off remediation workflows including BSOD actions, all with approval gates in place.
The session wraps with community Q&A on Insights, the Resolve endpoint product, custom indexes, history retention, token usage, and the hosted MCP direction. Headline news: the AI Assistant is generally available; it runs on Claude Sonnet 5, and every response can be rated with a thumbs-up or thumbs-down to help it improve.
Copilot, not autopilot. That framing shows up again and again, and it is a good one.
