A discussion took place about using ControlUp Academy to gather logs via PowerShell scripts. Hosting a CDN in Azure was suggested as a solution. However, another user suggested creating a function instead that would prompt for the log location and then download it as a .txt or .log file. This would be helpful in situations where users don’t have time to provide logs or are VIPs. The idea was also brought up to consolidate all log-related ideas into one to put pressure on product management. There was also a question about whether input can be prompted in EdgeDX or ControlUp for Desktops.

another one
what logs are you looking to gather? we created this function with powershell and hosting a cdn in azure
Any logs
Logs I create via a powrsell script
Crash logs , any logs I want to provide a path and them click download and it should download the log from the device and download it
you should be able to create ps scripts for each of these in edgedx
That’s the thing why create a script for each log ,
Create a function that prompts you for the log location it uses the same protocol that’s in the file transfer in the remote control and it downloads the log
fair enough. my use case was fairly limited so if this helps then great
Here i have 2 exp now
i need to get the logs off the device , User doesnt have time for me to get the logs from him
and the other user is a VIP and the support team doesnt get time booked with them
if i could just run a action from controlup , past the logs location and click get or download it will go and fetch the log file as a .txt or even as .log file
You can’t prompt in for input ~EdgeDX~ ControlUp for Desktops though, can you?
Also are they different than these? You might be better off consolidating into 1 idea. Put more pressure on product management 😄
