How to Select Storage Region and Understand Security in ControlUP (Cloud)?

Posted on June 18, 2023

A user asked about setting up ControlUp Cloud – the default regional location depends on the user’s location and can either be the US or EU. Historical data loss will occur if migration to a different region is requested. The region specific locations are US-East-1 (N. Virginia) and EU-central-1 (Frankfurt). There might also be some customers on eu-west-1 (Ireland). Any client identifiable information should be discussed with the sales team.

Hi All, just a question – when setting up ControlUP (Cloud) where is the default regional location to which the account + data gets stored in and does this migrate or is it fixed to EU or US Regions. And are you able to choose which region your data can reside in at the point of provisioning. Is there any collateral that speaks to the security protocols & controls around data protection etc.. – thank you

Location is either US or EU based on where you are connecting from. We can migrate you but this will come with historical data loss. That collateral is available and any (pre-) sales employee from our end that you are working with has it available for you.

I have asked the sales team for your region to reach out 🙂

Thank you for the update – appreciate it!

So from AU-East – is it assumed that US would be our default region?

I think it might actually be EU but would need to check.

Is there anything that gets transmitted to the Cloud database that is ‘client identifiable’ ?

@member AU goes to US

To be region specific, US = us-east-1 (N. Virginia) and EU = eu-cetnral-1 (Frankfurt).

There are some customers still on eu-west-1 (Ireland).

For the client identifable q please work with your se as they know best.

Thanks guys for the feedback appreciate it!
