The blog post "Microsoft Intune Lab Setup with ControlUp Edge DX Installation Instructions" explains how to deploy Edge DX and SIP Agents through Intune, with the help of ControlUp Field Engineering. A special thanks was given to multiple members of the ControlUp team. @member was asked to read the post, and if worthwhile, share it to other Slack channels that the original sender did not have permission for. Doug was also noted as partying in Rome for E2EVC. Configuring ControlUp in Multi-Forest AD with Selective Authentication Two-Way Trust
A user wanted guidance on ControlUp in multi-forest AD with selective authentication two-way trust. The license is tied to the AD domain, as long as DNS resolution is available from the monitors and console, the AD forests don't matter. As the accounts will be migrated in phases, a trust needs to be set up in ControlUp. Further, the account team needs to be contacted to iron out any licensing issues. Documentation on setting up multi-domain environment can be found at https://support.controlup.com/docs/setting-up-a-multi-domain-environment.

Can Two ControlUp Deployments be Run on One Machine?
A user asked if two different ControlUp Deployments could be run on one machine. It is not possible, but when upgrading, the console, monitor, and agents can be updated separately. For a migration from an on-prem to a cloud environment, a registry key needs to be deleted. The Auth key and Organization key need to be cleared and set again. Alternatively, it is possible to keep the same org and change the mode to cloud.

Best Practices for Upgrading ControlUp on a New VM
Users discussed best practices for upgrading ControlUp by moving it to a new VM; this includes backing up the Console machine's appdata folder and republishing the configuration, as well as reusing the existing database. It was suggested that the platform's consoles and monitors should logon to the new name and IP, while the agent auth key should be migrated using PowerShell commands. Uninstalling the monitors and data collectors was suggested because of the name change.

How to Select Storage Region and Understand Security in ControlUP (Cloud)?
A user asked about setting up ControlUp Cloud - the default regional location depends on the user's location and can either be the US or EU. Historical data loss will occur if migration to a different region is requested. The region specific locations are US-East-1 (N. Virginia) and EU-central-1 (Frankfurt). There might also be some customers on eu-west-1 (Ireland). Any client identifiable information should be discussed with the sales team.

Inviting Users to Scoutbees with Limited Permission
A user asked why they can't invite a user in Scoutbees and give them only access to Scoutbees. Though integrated with Solve, Scoutbees can't directly invite users, but when the user migrates to DEX, they will be able to separate the different platforms/products. The user has asked Support to create another viewer user with only Scoutbees access.

How to use Scoutsbees Shell Extensions to launch applications
The user asked if they can run an application as part of a Scout with Scoutsbees shell extensions. It is possible to run anything on the Custom Hive or Powershell.exe as System. Login Enterprise combined with Azure was suggested for migration testing or a new application, but Shell execution would have to run in the Custom Hive and System context. The user wanted to avoid going through separate teams and departments to use the logon script in Scoutbees.

Customizing Widgets and New Analytics in ControlUp Solve
The conversation began with customers asking for the ability to filter applications in widgets, blacklisting or whitelisting them. ControlUp is now excluding ControlUp processes and allowing customization of widgets in the upcoming Solve release. In addition, there will soon be a new analytic report for machines with high CPU. Finally, users can use Export-CuQuery to create a workaround to get data on applications crashing or hanging.

Finding Out About SSO Integration for ControlUp Products
A user asked about SSO integration with Solve and Insights, as well as the integration of Scout Bees and whether it is necessary to configure Solve and Insights separately with the IDP. The user was informed that Solve and Insight can be accessed via Solve, and that Insights will be ported over into Solve, with the data upload process and dependency on s3 being removed. An update is expected in about a week or two, and the user was advised to contact their CSM or sales team for more unofficial details.
