Multiple members of the company ControlUp are discussing issues with the 9.1.5.x agent on ServerOS (2016-2022). Many are experiencing a high CPU time with the services.exe process. Some members have opened tickets with support to address the issue. The issue has been seen on both non-persistent and persistent VM’s. It is recommended to use the details tab in task manager instead of the process page for CPU usage.

Anyone running 9.1.5.x running the agent on a ServerOS (2016-2022) seeing services.exe use a ton of CPU time with these versions of the agent? We have a ticket open with support but am generally curious how many other customers are seeing this issue across their deployment. We’re seeing many hours of CPU time with this process being used after the server boots, vs less than 1 minute of CPU time over days and days of boot time with the 9.1.0.807 agent on the same server.
@member Are you also noticing the agent is not starting after those servers reboot? Since upgrading to 9.1.5.406 I’ve seen some hosts not auto start the service after a reboot but will start the service with remote PS.
I am looking to see if I see an uptick in the services.exe process on those machines.
Some environmental details, Citrix MCS, non-persistent, Server 2019.
Yeah – we dont install the agent on our image, we use the monitors to push the agent to them on startup, fwiw. We’re seeing this across Server 2016-2022 on persistent and non-persistent VM’s.
The CPU time issue is pretty easy to spot, just open task manager – > add the CPU time column and if the server has been booted for longer than an hour or so, services.exe for the most part should have essentially no CPU time, in our scenario, after a couple days of boot time, its used many hours on the 9.1.5.x agent builds
Ah, ok. Different for me, but something I will keep an eye out for. I have a ticket open with them for my specific issue too.
not saying it’s not an issue but don’t look at the process page of task manager for cpu usage. Microsoft has admitted that that overview is not good, please use the details tab which is good.
