Troubleshooting ControlUp Scout for Microsoft Teams

Rick was attempting to configure ControlUp Scout for Microsoft Teams but one of the tests was failing. They wanted to know where the hive was located and after they identified it as a custom hive on the internal network, it was suggested that it may be due to a firewall issue. As a first step, it was suggested to make sure calls can be initiated from the custom hive location. ControlUp Agent Status Reports “Error” While Working Perfectly

A user asked about an issue with Instant Clone VMs; potential causes suggested included DNS resolution, firewall blocking, Agent not installed, or Agent not running. To find the exact error message, they need to look at 'Monitor Status' in the Console. It was then mentioned that if these VMs are not connecting to the Monitor, they will cause errors in Solve (missing historical data). Lastly, the user realized that the Agent may not be running.

How to Troubleshoot ‘Request Timed Out’ Error When Implementing ControlUp’s High Latency Analysis Script

A user asked for help with a script found at https://www.controlup.com/script-library-posts/analyze-high-latency-issues/, which was running the full 5 minutes before timing out. A member suggested to change the endpoint IP to the public one if the client is on the same network or at least pingable, but noted that most home firewalls will not allow ping so it will likely time out.

Is it Possible to Have a ControlUp Monitor Server in a DMZ?

A user asked if it is possible to have a ControlUp monitor server in a DMZ while managing Citrix desktops not in the DMZ. Connectivity over port 40705 to the agent is possible, but DNS resolution and AD connections must also be in place for it to work.

Any extra Firewall rules required to allow use of session actions from ControlUp Solve?

When trying to use the actions from Solve, a user asked if anything needs to be enabled or if there are extra firewall rules required. The user confirmed that all other pages in Solve worked well, but the actions were failing. According to the ControlUp support page https://support.controlup.com/docs/solve-actions, the monitors need to be able to connect to solve.controlup.com over 443.

How to Configure the Firewall for ControlUp Remote DX and IGEL Devices

A user asked if port 40705 needed to be opened between monitors and IGEL devices for Remote DX. It was suggested that no firewall rules were necessary, and the user was given the steps to deploy the Remote DX plugin and configure the virtual channel in order to view Remote DX metrics. It was also suggested for the user to test on a laptop/PC. The user then asked for the cuepux_srv_dll which was not immediately found.

Trouble Adding Host to ControlUp Console

A user had trouble adding a host in the Console, receiving the error "The RPC server is unavailable". Suggestions included checking all necessary firewall ports were open and unchecking the 'Deploy agent automatically' setting in the agent settings, which solved the issue. It is advised that the latest version of .Net Framework (4.8) is installed to ensure compatibility. The latest On-prem version of ControlUp available is 8.7.0.24.

How Much Additional Employee Workload Can We Expect from a ControlUp Edge DX Deployment of 1500 Devices?

A user asked about the workload accompanying an ControlUp Edge DX deployment, which would involve approximately 1500 devices. Installation of the agent via MSI is easy, as Edge DX is a SaaS application with no additional infrastructure or firewall rules needed. ControlUp Academy has free Edge DX administrator courses.
