A user was building a sentiment survey and wanted to target a specific user group in AD. However, the picker did not show the desired group. A feature that allows for saving drafts was also mentioned. The team discussed upcoming updates that would address these concerns and potentially provide early access to the new version. The surveys are delivered through the Edge DX Agent to the endpoint and the listed AD groups are based on users who have logged into the machines. A team member offered to add the user to the beta for Sentiment V2. If interested, the user can send their contact details and tenant information.

How Long is Data Retention for ControlUp Edge DX Reports?
A user asked about the data retention timeframe for Edge DX Installed Applications reports. The contractual answer is 1 month, but it was suggested that information may not always be true as it depends on the type of data being reported. Installed applications data shows all apps seen in the registry, and should go back to the first app ever installed on the device. It's recommended to download the report monthly and run any additional reports as needed.

Gather Drive Type Information with ControlUp Edge DX

The user initially wanted to see if the laptops they were using had SSDs or HDDs to troubleshoot a performance issue, and instructions were provided for manually and semi-automatically collecting the data. Edge DX also enables the user to create custom reports and set up persistent data collection, and includes a script to collect CPU temperature. Locked Out of ControlUp Solve Portal Despite Permissions
A user was locked out of their Solve and DEX portals due to a permissions issue. After being granted all necessary permissions, they still couldn't access Solve from the console. It was established that the user needed the "Use Solve" right in their security policy. The user then tried a few solutions, including the add-cuuser cmdlet (https://support.controlup.com/docs/add-cuuser-create-new-solve-users#), but still could not access the portal. A restart of the monitor did not help however, so the issue is still unresolved.

Setting Up Persistent Desktops and Servers With ControlUp
A user asked about syncing Active Directory computers with RealTime DX Console, and was advised to use GPOs or automated agent deployment to set up persistent desktops and servers. However, there are drawbacks to the latter which can be found in the ControlUp documentation. The Agent can now be upgraded from the console using a registry flag. The full discussion, including the relevant ControlUp URLs, can be seen at https://controlupcommunity.slack.com/archives/C0473N33S00/p1695332008532109.

Admin Rights Required for Upgrading the ControlUp Monitor?
The user asked if administrative privileges were required to upgrade the monitor from the console on another VM, and if they were needed for the one-time upgrade from 8.6 to 8.7. It was clarified that the organization owner MUST be the first user to upgrade the Real-Time Console to version 8.8, but after that any user can upgrade to 8.8 with any admin rights; and the organization owner is only required for the initial upgrade from 8.6 to 8.7. A user can be added in "AD Connections" with admin rights to override the user used to upgrade the monitors.
