RemoteDX Installation: Privacy Settings and Included Information – Easy Installation vs. GUI
ControlUp's "easy-button" remotely simulates the same GUI install for Windows with opt-in for private metrics, while the Command line install is opt-out. The accompanying video may be outdated but the feature is present on the page. A UserVoice idea for the opt-out feature can be opened, as it is a requirement for compliance with the GDPR. The "easy button" installer page link is https://www.controlup.com/remotedx/.

Bypassing Group Policy for PowerShell Scripts
A user was trying to run a PowerShell script in a script action, but was having issues due to an execution policy blocking the script. The user wanted to know if it was possible to bypass the group policy, to which it was suggested this would be seen as a security vulnerability by Microsoft. A workaround of setting the execution policy on the current user was suggested and seemed to work.

Suggestion for Script to Create Log Bundles with ControlUp Infrastructure Servers
A user suggested creating a script to generate log bundles with logs from ControlUp infrastructure servers such as SBA, COP, IOP, etc. An example of such a script was AppSense-Support.vbs and this was used to successfully retrieve the logs. The ControlUp Script Library includes a script (https://www.controlup.com/script-library-posts/deploy-log4net-for-controlup-processes/) for generating log bundles for Cloud components, although it is more complicated to do so for on-prem components due to the large size of the logs.

Is ControlUp Edge DX compatible with base images in a VDI environment, considering GUID issues?
Edge DX was discussed for use in a VDI environment. Realtime is a better product for virtual environments but Edge does have the user productivity reports which appealed to the client. To make Edge work in a VDI, the registration process must be changed to use machine names instead of GUIDs and a "VDI or don't start service" parameter for the installer must be used. The Edge DX report for Top URLs was also mentioned and can be found in the Dashboards/End User Activity of the knowledge base (https://support.controlup.com/v1/docs/edge-dx-agent-distribution-and-installation-for-windows#command-line-agent-installation).

ControlUp and FIPS Compliance: Progress Towards Certification and Security Efforts
A user asked about FIPS compliance with ControlUp, and the response was that ControlUp is likely closer to FIPS compliant but not certified. This is due to the way the registry key in Windows works, requiring only certified modules. ControlUp's security can be seen on https://www.controlup.com/controlling-your-security/, with different components in the process of certifying for FIPS 140-2. IOP being a Linux appliance, and COP being a webservice, the explanation does not directly apply to them.

ControlUp Agent and Remote DX Installation on an On-Premise Environment
A user asked about installing the ControlUp agent and Remote DX across an on-premise environment, with IGEL and Windows PCs as clients. In order to control both from the console, version 8.8 and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Smart-X\ControlUp\Console\EnableAgentManagement set to 1 are required. The Remote DX should be installed via SCCM, as per Microsoft's policy. Full details can be found on the ControlUp Support Upgrade Guide, linked here: https://support.controlup.com/v1/docs/upgrade-guide-for-hybrid-cloud-8-x-to-8-8#upgrade-controlup-agents.

Troubleshooting “Send Message To Horizon User” Script Error
The user was trying to run the “Send message to Horizon user” from the community script using a trigger but received an UAC error. Solutions such as disabling UAC from the Control Panel and making sure the Horizon pod was in the same ControlUp site as the agent machines were suggested. Additionally, the user had to generate Horizon creds on each Monitor server individually. The issue was eventually resolved.

Does ControlUp Remote DX Work on ThinOS Devices?
While ControlUp does not have an agent that works with ThinOS devices, Dell released one in December, and third-party posts suggest it works. It is RemoteDX, not EdgeDX, which only adds metrics to the real-time console.
