ControlUP Monitoring: Combining CVAD Logon Times with FSLogix Integration without UPM? Supported Configuration?

Posted on May 3, 2023

A user asked about running FSLogix and UPM together without issues. It was suggested to not use Director for logon times as ControlUp is more accurate and to focus on the Windows logon time. It was also recommended to use the logon duration analysis script provided by ControlUp and establish a baseline. Additionally, FSLogix integration interrogates a remote file share every 5 minutes and does not provide free space info, other than that it can be requested via Solve UserVoice. Links provided: https://www.controlup.com/resources/blog/entry/analyzing-logon-duration-just-got-better/, https://www.controlup.com/script-library-posts/enable-requirements-for-logon-duration-analysis/.

Is there a sizing guide to how much storage space you need for ControlUp Inights

Posted on March 25, 2023

A user asked about sizing for Insights storage - in the KB, an example of 1,000 RDSH, 500 VDI and 30 Server OS users was given as 3 TB per year with an overhead of 1.3. 8,000 Citrix users, 2,000 VDIs, 3,000 laptops and 1,000 servers will require around 48 TB of storage, which would need an IOP cluster with 3 data nodes. The article from ControlUp KB is no longer available, however ControlUp's Knowledge Base article on prerequisites for Insights on-premises can be found at https://support.controlup.com/v1/docs/insights-on-premises-prerequisites#recommended-installation-types-based-on-sessions.

How to Add a Script to the ControlUp Community Script Library?

Posted on February 28, 2023

A user asked how to add a script to the ControlUp Community Script Library. They were directed to a blog post which outlines the process for sharing, and the user mentioned they had two scripts that they created to provide a report of user profiles reset by Citrix Director and to clear the storage space from reseted profiles. This is suggested to be added to @member's list of community triggers. The Academy can be found at https://cuacademy.controlup.com/

Does ControlUp Support Nutanix Files?

Posted on January 24, 2023

A user asked if ControlUp supports Nutanix Files, and it was mentioned that while Nutanix Files specific metrics cannot be seen, AHV can be added for lots of storage information. EdgeDX from ControlUp is a different product and cannot be installed on an FSVM. It was suggested that adding Nutanix CE CVM nodes & Prism Central VM’s to ControlUp via Retouw.nl could give some insights. Furthermore, CIFS shares or SMB Protocols can be tested for availability using ScoutBees or a scheduled trigger that starts an SBA and alerts if anything fails.

There will also be Disk entity reports with relevant information and recommendations. A session can be coordinated to discuss the plan.

How does ControlUp calculate the current “Protocol Bandwidth Limit”?

Posted on January 4, 2023

The user asked about ControlUp's Protocol Bandwidth Limit measurement and how it is calculated. It was suggested that this measurement may change due to a CPU Readiness problem in VMware, as the guest OS has CPU demand but the host cannot satisfy the demand. It was also suggested to check the CO-stop (%CSTP), which is shown as CPU Excessive SMP Use in ControlUp on the VM level, as well as check for any snapshots present on the virtual machine that could increase %CSTP values and reduce virtual-machine performance.

ControlUp Edge DX Data Storage Limits and Options Explained

Posted on November 9, 2022

The user noticed Edge only keeps data for 30 days and asked for an explanation, as they had options to view data from earlier in the year. @member clarified that Edge keeps data for up to 30 days, occasionally longer if storage is available, and suggested the user supply a screenshot so the issue can be replicated. @member investigated further and found session data from August, but the user still noticed other data going back to May. The user suggested the "This Year" option is unnecessary and unlikely to display data older than 30 days.
