Troubleshooting ControlUp Edge DX Error on Ubuntu Device

A forum member asked about an error with a ControlUp Edge DX service running on Ubuntu. They checked the siplog.log, which showed a normal log from 2023, and determined that the service was running but something else was causing it to shut down when the user attempted a remote shell. The issue seemed to be caused by a typo when restarting the service, and the user suggested creating a support ticket and reinstalling the service. URL: cuacademy.controlup.com

Hey @member I would first check if the sipagent process is running with a ps -edf

Logs should be in /var/log/avacee

A file called siplog.log

I woke up an old Ubuntu machine on my Parallels box and here is a "normal" siplog.log

interesting… means that the edgeDX agent is running

And "something" is shutting it down when you are requesting a remote shell


but look at the date 😞

how can i restart it ?


can the user try to do :

sudo service avaceesip restart

is this a reinstall ?


it looks like the service is not there anymore

@member is this something you have ever seen?

I’d create a support ticket for this

and try to reinstall

its 100 devices 😞 but should not take me that long

user typed sudo service avacee restart instead of "avaceesip"
