Understanding Data Resolution at Intervals for ControlUp for Desktops / DAAS API Endpoints

Posted on August 8, 2025

A user asked about data resolution at intervals for the CU4VDI/DAAS API endpoints. They assumed the smallest sample would be 3 seconds, but were not sure. Another user clarified that for real-time data, the machine list and details endpoints are available, with a granularity that changes over time. They provided a link to the knowledge base for more information. The company plans to add new API endpoints for non-data pipeline, and potentially to pull real-time metrics in the future. There are also plans to add the ability to run actions from the API. A specific roadmap for these developments is not yet available.

Read the entire ‘Understanding Data Resolution at Intervals for CU4VDI/DAAS API Endpoints’ thread below:

Hello everyone, I am currently looking for information on the data resolution at intervals from the CU4VDI/DAAS API endpoints. So for example if i would like to get the smallest available sample from the Machine statistics endpoint here: https://api.controlup.io/reference/getmachinestatsbymachine-1

I am wondering what the interval will be…

Since those are real time APIs, I assume the smallest sample would be 3 seconds, but I have not tested this yet. @member do you know?

I would assume this is the data from the reporting API, I would be amazed if it amounts to 3s 😄

Sorry, you are right, the one you linked is the historical API. For real time we currently only have machine list and details. I’m that case I think it’s 5 minutes

But the granularity changes over time. We have a KB for that. Let me see if I can find it

so can you clarify, which endpoints in CU4DAAS will deliver (almost) realtime data?

https://support.controlup.com/docs/vdi-and-daas-reports

Ah okay, so it states:

• All data accessed within 2-5 minute data collection intervals

We only just started adding the first API endpoints for non-data pipeline (which is historical) https://api.controlup.io/reference/getmachines there’s only 2 endpoints so far. I’m not entirely sure what the roadmap looks like and what the plans look like to pull actual real time metrics. Initially they’re focused on configuration and soon hopefully running actions

running actions from API would be marvelous! 😎

Oh I have many ideas for ControlUp Workflows already. I think @member has those prioritized and hopefully we’ll see something soon
