Where to Place the ControlUp Agent in Citrix App Layering

Posted on December 6, 2023

A user asked what the preferred place is to put the ControlUp agent in Citrix App Layering. It can be put in the base layer (the OS layer) or the Platform Layer. It can be put in an App Layer as well, but there have been customers with issues, so it’s best to try it and check to see if it works and if all metrics are working. A user replied that they have the ControlUp agent in an App Layer with no issues.

Hello guys!

Using Citrix App Layering, what would be the preferred place to put the ControlUP agen?

I will test a separate Application Layer now, but any inputs appreciated 🙂

always in the base layer imho, we have had some customers try and fail otherwise

And with "base layer" you mean OS layer!!?? 😬

yes

it’s been a while so so you can try but usually we don’t support otherwise

Are you really sure about that? the "Platform Layer" has the highest priority of all so that would have been a more obvious place to me to put it 😇

as said it’s been a while and while searching on our internal slack there are customers that put them in whatever layer and it works while others have major issues with it. Guess it depends on their builds. Let’s try the platform layer and see what happens, also check that all metrics work as some customers need to do a reset of their perfmon counters (windows issue)

I have it in an app layer no isdues

No issues

AppLayer 🙂
