Happy Script Wednesday! 🙂 I have a goodie for you. We are all aware of the challenges we encounter due to high latency. It might be one of the most significant issues we face today, as we can’t control the wire beyond our networks. That said, I have a solution for you!
Can ControlUp help? Yes, out of the box, we provide a pre-built, yet customizable, script that helps you analyze and solve high latency issues!
We all know the pain: a user complains about session slowness, and you’re staring at metrics trying to figure out where the delay is happening. Is it the user’s home network? The ISP? Somewhere in the route between the endpoint and the VDI host?
That’s where the ControlUp Analyze High Latency Issues script comes in.
What it does:
This script runs directly on the target VDI or Citrix machine and executes a tracert.exe command aimed at the client device. It then analyzes each network hop between the VDI machine and the endpoint to pinpoint where latency is spiking.
How it works:
- Initiates a reverse trace from the VDI host to the endpoint
- Highlights the hop with the highest round-trip delay
- Automatically times out after 5 minutes to avoid hanging
- Designed to run safely within ControlUp’s Script Actions Framework
Why it matters:
This gives you real visibility into the actual network path, not just abstract averages. In a world of remote users, hybrid work, and unpredictable last-mile connections, this script helps isolate whether the problem resides in your data center, somewhere on the internet, or the user’s home Wi-Fi.
In summary, if you’re troubleshooting session latency and want answers fast, this script gives you direction, not just data.
