ControlUp’s Future Plans for the VDI Executable and Real-Time Console

Posted on February 2, 2026

A question was asked about the availability of the ControlUp VDI executable with the shift to cloud-based operations. ControlUp stated that their end goal is to get rid of the executable, but it will still be available for a while. Plans for on-prem are still uncertain but for the real-time console, ControlUp plans to go fully cloud-based with comparable functionality and configuration options. The timeline for this change has not yet been decided.

Read the entire ‘ControlUp’s Future Plans for the VDI Executable and Real-Time Console’ thread below:

Our end goal is to get rid of it but it will be there for a while still

when u say ControlUp VDI executable do you mean on Perm or the Real time cosnole?

the real time console, but he question is the same for onprem

On prem i have not heard of any plans for it to be discontinued but would have limit and slower development and some new features in the cloud would not be possible. The real time console yes we do plan to go full cloud, with all or near to all functionality on the cloud, and configuration is been made avalibile via PowerShell and automation pack (maybe cloud portal as well). Time line i don’t think is full decided but when i did ask recently it is not expected be gone this year unless development moves a lot fast than expected
