The question was raised about which ControlUp agent to install on virtualized Domain Controllers for monitoring purposes. It was recommended to install the ControlUp VDI Agent due to its merging of agent and Hypervisor data, while the Desktops agent is not as hypervisor aware. Both agents offer different features such as remote control, alerts, script actions, and historical data length. Preferences and technical reasons are discussed.

We have Domain Controllers that are VMs. If we want to add ControlUp for monitoring, should we install the ControlUp Edge DX SIP Agent (sipagent2.17.7.7838.msi) or the ControlUp VDI Agent (ControlUpAgent-net48-x64-9.1.5.378-signed.msi)? Which is the right choice for domain controllers, and why?
For the chocice is around the features that cone with each one. And preference around remote control. Alerts and script actions. They both do the diffetent.
And also how long u want historical data

It’s largely preference for the VDI interface or the Desktops interface like Luke mentioned.
However in your case I think this would sway me to the VDI agent We have Domain Controllers that are VMs. The VDI platform will merge agent and Hypervisor data. The Desktops agent isn’t hypervisor aware. Well not in the same way that the VDI platform is.
