A discussion took place about the most efficient way to throttle high CPU-consuming processes, including recommendations for using Citrix WEM or ControlUp for automation. A member suggested checking out built-in ControlUp actions that can be automated through triggers using cmdlets. WEM can also be activated for this customer in the coming weeks. It was also noted that a member named @member discussed this topic recently and may be able to provide more insights. The conversation ended with a mention of "fairly new" features in ControlUp.

Hi everyone! What would be the most efficient way to throttle processes that are consuming way more CPU than we want? Specifically, OneDrive.exe, Microsoft.SharePoint.exe, and all the processes for SentinelOne. One of my coworkers put something in for the SharePoint process and it is working, but I want to be sure we’re doing it the “right” way. 🙂 open to any thoughts, opinions, etc, just want to learn!
Do you use Citrix WEM? that is probably the most purpose built tool
WEM is on the books to be activated for this customer in the coming weeks. Guess I’ll be moving that into the schedule for this week 😁 Thanks for the tip Josh.
ha nice. Yeah that’s the most straightforward way to do it. Many people have their favorite configs that they could post
Outside of using WEM…how would I best accomplish this using CU? I wasn’t aware that WEM would be another agent. CU can do this as I understand it, so we want to look at using it first.
I am adding @member. Very timely, since he and I just discussed this topic on Tuesday. The built-in actions Luke shows in his screenshot actually can be automated as well through triggers using our cmdlets (he’s much smarter than me, so I might not be phrasing this accurately). Trentent is in west Canada, so probably will be a few hours before he can chime in
didn’t know about that 🙂
It’s fairly “new”
