Pre-Filling Event Pane Settings for All ControlUp Users

Posted on February 21, 2024

A user asked if it is possible to pre-fill/pre-stage Event Pane settings for all ControlUp users, as it seems to be a user-specific configuration. Some suggestions were to use PowerShell to add filters, but others pointed out that credentials are encrypted by user SID so that may not work. The user also asked if these events filters could be set as a GPO setting. File name: "%appdata%\ControlUp\Configuration\CommonPrivateConfiguration.xml"

RT DX On-Prem: Pre-Fill / Pre-Stage Events Pane Settings for all users

Hi guys…

Seems that "Settings > Events" is a user specific configuration.

Customer is aksing if its possible to pre-fill this settings for all ControlUp users.

Somebody have a creative idea?

Looks like its stored in "%appdata%\ControlUp\Configuration\CommonPrivateConfiguration.xml" in the "" stanza…

Maybe use PowerShell to add the filters via PoSh on logon!?

I bet @member knows if this file can be pushed or has some specific user SID or something. Also, if we have these events filters as a GPO setting?

In that file we store also the Credentials List, which are encrypted by user SID. Once you copy that file from one to another, this credentials won’t work…

My idea was more to add lines into the existing file via PowerShell. I assumed that distributing one file to all users will not work.

Thanks for the feedback so far…
