How to Report and Alert on VM’s with System Event Source “Bugcheck”
It is possible to create an event trigger to alert on virtual machines (VMs) with system event source "bugcheck" through email (or webhook and a few other options). However, this would only work when the event is occurring, not for past events. If the event relates to a blue screen, the agent might be gone and it won't alert. To solve this, it is suggested to set a trigger when the VM status goes from error to ready and run a script to check for that event.

How does ControlUp Agent Certificate Communication Work?
It was asked if a single certificate needs to be used across Real-Time Consoles, Monitors, and ControlUp Agents, with the Consoles and Monitors holding the private key while the public key is deployed to the Agents. Remediation can be automated for the agents with a GPO, and for the Console/Monitors with a supported PowerShell scripted provided by ControlUp. More information on agent certificate communication can be found at https://support.controlup.com/v1/docs/certificate-based-agent-authentication.

Best Practice for Updating the ControlUp Edge DX SIP Agent
The best practice for getting the EdgeDX SIP Agent to a newer version is setting the version in the Console and letting the Agent Manager update automatically. The Agent Manager checks for a new version every X time, and selecting the latest version in the drop-down and clicking "save agent versions" will auto-update machines with the Agent Manager installed. Further information can be found at https://support.controlup.com/docs/edge-dx-agent-installation.

How to Deploy ControlUp Remote DX on IGEL Devices
A user asked about the best or newest way to deploy/update ControlUp Remote DX on IGEL. The Igel firmware release 11.08.230 includes ControlUp Agent 8.1.5.500 and the user asked how to activate this feature. The user was given advice to move away from Real-Time but add them to Edge DX. As of 11.04 and earlier, the user was advised to use a custom partition. There is a bug that prevents the user from connecting after June last year, though. The user can download the ControlUp Remote DX Agent install script for IGEL devices using OS v11.05.152 and test it on OS v11.07.198.

The discussion focused on issues with machines going into Error state with Horizon, and the Status from Solve and whether View and Solve views should be the same. After several insights, it was concluded the best way is to open a support ticket. Realtime DX and Solve should show the same status as Citrix and the user should open a support ticket for further investigation.

How Much Additional Employee Workload Can We Expect from a ControlUp Edge DX Deployment of 1500 Devices?
A user asked about the workload accompanying an ControlUp Edge DX deployment, which would involve approximately 1500 devices. Installation of the agent via MSI is easy, as Edge DX is a SaaS application with no additional infrastructure or firewall rules needed. ControlUp Academy has free Edge DX administrator courses. The deployment should take less than 2 hours, but it is recommended that 1/2 a day be assigned for safety. The ControlUp Academy course can be found at https://cuacademy.controlup.com/edgedx-info/.

How to specify the user security context when upgrading agents from the ControlUp Console?
A user asked if it was possible to specify the user security context when upgrading agents in ControlUpConsole, as they couldn't use Domain Admins in their environment. It was suggested to add admin accounts to AD Connections and specify one per domain, and the credentials were stored in the user profile and used only for agent deployment and "agent control". This solution worked for the user.

Error: “No DNS entries exist for host” on ControlUp Console
A DNS error was reported on the Console and NSLookup was failing but the Agent status in the Monitor was fine. It was suggested to check the Data Sources tab in the Monitor to see when it first connected to the device, to see if there was an earlier time when there was a DNS entry. The issue was resolved later.

Does Edge DX Remote Control Leave a Trace afer Ending Remote Session?
A user asked about remote control functionality in Edge DX and whether it leaves traces that the security department can pick up. @Member gave an explanation that the client used in the agent is a VNC client, but is secured and connected to other parts of the system via a web-socket. This means that the VNC client cannot be externally connected, thus not leaving traces.
