Don’t see all the FSLogix Metrics after upgrading to ControlUp 8.8

Posted on May 3, 2023

The user updated to ControlUp 8.8 but did not see all the FSLogix Metrics in Solve and Real-Time Console. To fix this issue, the latest FSLogix version needs to be installed and the session needs to be logged off/on, as suggested by the Support team at https://support.controlup.com/docs/getting-started-with-fslogix-in-controlup. Differential disks may be the reason for the columns for Mount Time and Path being shown as N/A or blank.

ControlUP Monitoring: Combining CVAD Logon Times with FSLogix Integration without UPM? Supported Configuration?

Posted on May 3, 2023

A user asked about running FSLogix and UPM together without issues. It was suggested to not use Director for logon times as ControlUp is more accurate and to focus on the Windows logon time. It was also recommended to use the logon duration analysis script provided by ControlUp and establish a baseline. Additionally, FSLogix integration interrogates a remote file share every 5 minutes and does not provide free space info, other than that it can be requested via Solve UserVoice. How can the login process be further optimized, considering the slowdown caused by system AppX Packages?

Posted on April 27, 2023

Suggestions were made to optimize the loginprocess and gain an even lower login time. Steps to audit process creation and termination were provided, along with many other settings related to the login process and the loading of AppX packages. It was mentioned that the worldwide average login duration is 27 seconds, but the user's logon time was 17.5 seconds, so they were doing well. The user may be able to remove the BIO_Enrollment package if not using bio logon methods.

How to remotely query the registry of machine using a ControlUp Script Action?

Posted on March 7, 2023

It is possible to query the registry of a machine using a Script action, however the user was getting 'access denied' errors. If the computer runs the CU agent, it might be easier to run the script there instead of remotely. It was suggested that PS remote needs to be enabled for Invoke-Commands. 8.8 release will allow users to see the value for VHDLocations as a column in console and Solve as part of the FSLogix integration.

Troubleshooting Slow Logons with ControlUp and FSLogix

Posted on February 17, 2023

A user asked for a way to examine slow logons in a new FSLogix configuration. @member suggested watching the ControlUp Analyze Logon Duration webinar for an introduction to the ALD script, followed by the extended Q&A blog/video. They also recommended launching an FSLogix log parser script to look for retries and the "loadProfile time" in the ControlUp logs. The user is asked to report their results. How does ControlUp report failed logins in the logon duration report?

Posted on February 8, 2023

ControlUp users were discussing how to determine failed logins for the Logon Duration Report, and the root cause of the issue: the Antivirus product scanning thousands of files stored in the Roaming profile. The current FSLogix release was mentioned to be 'trash', while UPM has been known to work better with one issue. Citrix has been asked to incorporate a work-around in a future UPM release to solve the issue.

When users logon to a server that is provisioned by PVS dose the User profile go to the RAM cache or the DIFf disk?

Posted on January 6, 2023

A discussion was had around the use of Provisioning Services (PVS) and how it deals with user profiles. If profiles exceed 30GB, then it should be configured to overflow on disk, but FSLogix Containers are simply mounted and the writes directly into the VHDX file, not into RAM. For testing, users can change the altitude of the procmon or FSLogix Drivers.

Error “no more connections can be made to this remote computer” while distributing FSLogix AppMasking Rule from VDA

Posted on December 22, 2022

A user reported an error message they had received while attempting to distribute a single FSlogix AppMasking Rule from one VDA to 30+ others. The potential cause of the issue was suggested to be the number of concurrent file sharing connections being limited in Windows desktop OS as a license limit. The ControlUp support team requested some additional information to investigate the issue. The user mentioned they used an SMB share to host their FSlogix rules and GPOs, and copy them locally during gpupdate.
