Understanding Traceroute and Missing Hops
A discussion about missing hops in a traceroute was had, with a user providing a possible explanation that some nodes may not allow ICMP ping. It was suggested to use the Windows tracert command to replicate this. Other users chimed in with similar experiences and further clarification on how traceroute works. It was concluded that this can be a temporary issue or it may be due to nodes not allowing ICMP traffic. The example used to demonstrate this was pinging Google, which does not allow ICMP ping. Limitations of RemoteDX and EdgeDX for Non-Windows Devices in ControlUp
A user was experiencing difficulty connecting to the physical endpoint with Edge DX from a VDI session. The link between RemoteDX and EdgeDX is currently only supported for Windows devices, and there are no plans for future support. This limitation can be reported and upvoted on Uservoice. The "jump to device" functionality may still be possible by copying the device name and searching for it in the device details tab. There is currently no documentation or mention of this limitation being a known issue or unsupported in the release notes or knowledgebase. It is believed to be due to the ability for RemoteDX to pull the device ID from Windows, which is not built in for Linux/IGEL/thin clients.

Using Tags as Variables in EdgeDX Scripts: A ControlUp Discussion
A discussion took place about using tags as variables in EdgeDX scripts. It was suggested to use Device Groups or environment variables, with some limitations on the characters allowed. There were also discussions about future updates to increase the tag length and whether there is a PowerShell module for EdgeDX. The conversation also touched on the time it takes for a tag to show up on an endpoint and creating new tags through the script. There were some issues with setting the tag initially, but it was resolved by using all lowercase letters and limiting to specific characters. It is possible that the tag length may be increased in the future.
