ControlUp v9.x Inbound/Outbound Connections: Issues and Solutions Shared

Posted on April 5, 2024

A discussion took place regarding the inbound and outbound connections in the new version 9.x. Some users reported issues with disconnected connections and concern was raised about the impact on the agents. Ultimately, it was suggested to allow client traffic to/from ControlUp's AWS hosted services without firewall packet inspection for optimal communication. The agents have an escalating hold off pattern for reconnection attempts. It was also mentioned that the ControlUp URLs are hosted in Azure and there is an offline flow available as an alternative.

How to Select Multiple Pools in ControlUp for Reporting Purposes

Posted on April 3, 2024

Multiple users discussed the possibility of selecting multiple pools in the dropdown menu from the folder structure in the console for reporting purposes. While there is no current solution for this, there is a workaround by organizing pools into separate folders. However, the built-in sync script does not allow for customization of folder mappings, so this may not be a viable solution. There is a feature that allows for custom folder mapping in the Universal Sync script, but it may not work for all situations. Further discussion and resources can be found in the Slack channel.

Posted on April 3, 2024

There was a discussion regarding Site Load scouts failing from certain ControlUp hives. Some users reported failures in Northern Virginia and Seattle, while others had no issues in these hives. One user's site load scout was initially disabled but after testing, it seemed to be working fine. Upon further testing, Northern Virginia and Montreal started failing with the message that the resources haven't finished loading. Another user suggested opening a ticket for further investigation and mentioned that they have not heard similar reports from other customers. One user speculated that the failures may be due to their security measures blocking the cloud hive IP addresses. The conversation ended with the suggestion to open a ticket for further investigation.

Troubleshooting Data Issues on ControlUp’s App Control Platform

Posted on March 20, 2024

ControlUp recently migrated to app.controlup.com and there were some issues with data not being received for certain reports under "Application Usage". It was determined that the team has not done any network modifications for the specific URL mentioned in the issue. It was suggested to check the communication ports and add them to the allow list. There was some confusion about whether the new data pipeline runs concurrently with the old method, but it was clarified that data will continue to be received via the old method until the new reports are completely migrated. The ControlUp source can provide more information. Any issues with app statistics can be directed to support@controlup.com.
