Troubleshooting Data Issues on ControlUp’s App Control Platform

Posted on March 20, 2024

ControlUp recently migrated to app.controlup.com and there were some issues with data not being received for certain reports under "Application Usage". It was determined that the team has not done any network modifications for the specific URL mentioned in the issue. It was suggested to check the communication ports and add them to the allow list. There was some confusion about whether the new data pipeline runs concurrently with the old method, but it was clarified that data will continue to be received via the old method until the new reports are completely migrated. The ControlUp source can provide more information. Any issues with app statistics can be directed to support@controlup.com.

Read the entire ‘Troubleshooting Data Issues on ControlUp’s App Control Platform’ thread below:

We recently migrated to app.controlup.com and received an email shortly after that we have been migrated to the new data pipeline platform. It seems that we are no longer receiving data for any of the reports under "Application Usage" on app.controlup.com or Solve, but all of the other reports appear functional. It seems that insights still is collecting data on application usage. Does this mean that we weren’t actually migrated? Or maybe only partially?

I think I’ve seen this issue discussed on our internal chat. Let me check if that was the same

Same report, different issue and was resolved, so probably unrelated.

You have open communication from monitor to monitor-receiver-azure-eastus-prod.controlup.com/v1/data

(assuming you are in the US or Canada)

Yes, US. We did not do any network modifications specific for that URL that I am aware of. Looking at this document.. https://support.controlup.com/v1/docs/communication-ports-used-by-controlup-hybrid-cloud-us-customers

For the others it lists specific ports and protocols. What exactly does it mean "add to allow list"?

I’m also curious if the new data pipeline runs concurrently with the old method (like with solve to app.controlup.com) ? That seems to be the case since we are still populating data in Insights. It seems like maybe we are continuing to receive all our data via the old method but that just isn’t working for the application related metrics for some reason.

as fare as i know the data before been moved over to the pipeline is not been migrated and from what i see they new reports and legacy reports are getting the data, so i will assume that will happen until you have 1 year worth of data in the new reports and you will have no need data in the legacy reports and that platform will be retired

but ControlUp source can confirm

What do you see in the URL? If the URL includes the word streaming, then you’re on the new data pipeline. If it does not, old data pipe line. For example new data pipeline in our demo environment for both Solve and DEX

And as far as I can see, you are uploading data to the new data pipeline Josh.

If you’re not getting app statistics, either reach out to me via direct message here. Or contact support via email at support@controlup.com

Oh sorry, application usage. Same idea though.

Thanks for the info @member I will check this tomorrow and reach out.
