Troubleshooting High GPU Memory Usage: How to Show GPU Memory Usage by Process?

Posted on April 27, 2023

A user noticed high GPU memory usage for VDI (80 to 95%) in the COP Console but when they selected processes, the GPU Utilization, Decoder Utilization, Encoder Utilization, and Frame Buffer Memory Utilization all showed 0%. They were wondering if there was a way to show the GPU memory usage by process. Another user suggested selecting System Sessiosn from the dropdown, but this was already done. It was suggested to check the GPU Utilization for more usage to narrow down the issue, but further investigation was needed.

Read the entire ‘Investigating GPU Memory Usage for VDI?’ thread below:

In COP Console, some VDIs with GPU show a high "GPU memory usage" (80 to 95%).

When I zoom in the machine view for one of these VDI, in processes, I only have "GPU Utilization", "GPU Decoder Utilization", "GPU Encoder Utilization" and "GPU Frame Buffer Memory Utilization" who all show 0%.

Is there a way to show the GPU memory usage by process ?

Thanks in advance, cheers

Here’s what I see:

Hello! I noticed in this screenshot you are in the sessions view, I recommend adding in the system sessions from the display drop down to see if it is system related and not just user related.

Thanks @member but I have system sessions already selected indeed.

If I select "Processes" I still don’t have the GPU memory usage.

I believed GPU Utilization may show more usage to help narrow it down

hmm… will think about this a bit more and get back to you
