Streamlining the Login Process for ControlUp’s DEX Console

Posted on February 15, 2024

ControlUp users discussed the login process for the DEX console, which can be simplified by using the Azure login option. If not using SAML, users can log in with their email and password, with the option to disable MFA. In the upcoming release, users will also be able to log in with an email-based user, making the process even more seamless. The specific login steps were outlined, including the use of an IDP for SAML authentication. URL: app.controlup.com/acmeorg/saml (with acmeorg being the specific organization)

Read the entire ‘Streamlining the Login Process for ControlUp’s DEX Console’ thread below:

Using the new DEX console. Does this log in procedure sound correct?

Enter email address, Then auth Code (via email ), select Org, then email and password, then MFA code (text), then AD password to access VDI tab?

I can get this slimmed down a bit if I first navigate to a specific ORGs url. Then I get:

Email Address and Password then MFA code (txt), then AD password to access VDI tab

The second one is the process I have to follow when I log in. (single org)

thanks

I think @member has plans to make this a bit more seamless even if you don’t use SAML

If you do use SAML for both DEX and VDI, it should be just your IDP asking for whatever you configured it to ask you.

app.controlup.com/acmeorg/saml for example. Where acmeorg is the org you’re trying to log in to

Hi Brian, thanks for the feedback.

• If you use saml, you will need only the IDP authentication to all products (DEX/VDI)

• If you want to log in with username and password, you can disable the MFA in the settings if you don’t want to use it (VDI authentication required)

• You can always log in with Azure or Gmail, no MFA but VDI authentication required.

• In RTDX v9.0 we will alow users to log in with email based user, so if you set your organization without LDAP, you will need to do only DEX login

Let me know if something is not clear and I will be happy to elaborate further.

its a lot more seamless if ur use the azure login i found that much better for single and multiple organizations
