A discussion was had about how to install the ControlUp Desktop agent in a VDI setup without having it auto update when users log off. One solution suggested was to create a special device group for the VDI desktops and set a fixed version control rule for that group. Links to instructions and relevant downloads were also shared. It was also mentioned that using the Sip agent instead could be the best option in this scenario. No issues were reported with the web portal.

Looking to add the Desktop agent to my VDI desktops, but is there any docs how to install it in the master image, but not have the agent auto update as the desktops all get reverted when the user logs off. Also leave it so that any laptops/desktops that have the agent will get auto updated.
Enabling version control in ControlUp settings installs the Agent Manager for ALL devices. However, in your version control settings you can specify a fixed version for a certain device group.
Would it work for you to set a special device group for those VDI desktops (you can do it with an installation flag), and then set a version control rule for that device group to remain on a fixed version?

@member if you are installing in a master image that is none persistent and not using our version control it is best that you install Sip agent and not the agent manager.
and using the REGISTERWITHNAME=1 switch as Yoni showed is key.
you can download the sip agent from here

Any issues with the web portal this morning. This is all I’m seeing is this
