Posted on January 31, 2023

ControlUp 8.8 will feature a service monitoring capability, as well as increased visibility and monitor health. How to use ControlUp Edge DX to create a report of installed BIOS versions of your devices?

Posted on January 30, 2023

A user asked about creating a report to display machine name, model, and BIOS versions, and was advised to use Edge scripting and SIP DATA tags to convert WMI objects to JSON. To make sure the data is current, they were also advised to overwrite the data each time, and to use their own index. Certifications were also recommended. The article at https://support.controlup.com/docs/edge-dx-scripting-guide#example-for-powershell was provided for reference. The user ultimately managed to create the desired report.

Do I Need To Include All Options when creating a Trigger in ControlUp?

Posted on January 30, 2023

A user asked if they need to specify all options in a given trigger to be notified when the percentage of available machines goes below 49%. They do not need to include the session support, enabled, and maintenance mode metrics in the "To this state" field, as the trigger will look at metrics when the percentage falls below 49%. For a similar trigger, collection can help for the last 3 AND statements, and maintenance mode should be avoided as it gives a false level of availability.

How to Disable the ControlUp Daily Digest?

Posted on January 27, 2023

A user asked why they were unable to disable the ControlUp Daily Digest. After trying from different web browsers and ensuring that the user had sufficient permissions, they opened a support ticket and it was discovered that two user accounts for the same user were present with different permissions - the least restrictive taking precedence. It was fixed, and they asked how to control who receives the Daily Digest. To do so, an email address and the time of day when it is sent needs to be entered.

How to add new users to ControlUp Real Time DX?

Posted on January 27, 2023

A user asked a question about adding users to a ControlUp setup, with the question of whether it needs to be done via the Login Setup screen in version 8.7 or if it can be done through adding people to an AD group. In order to do this, users need to be added manually. However, ControlUp is working on enhancing its Solve/SAML integration, which will enable new users to be auto created as needed. This would be done with the new DEX platform/login when configured to use SAML. ControlUp will keep @member updated on its progress with the DEX platform.
