A user inquired about seeing the ControlUp Agent starting before a BSOD on their machines. Another user suggested that the BSOD could have happened while the agent was not connected, and the details were only captured once the agent was started. The ControlUp agent is designed to capture BSOD details after the machine boots up from the blue screen.

Troubleshooting High Pagefault Numbers in ControlUp Community
A user asked for help on a high pagefault issue with the process "Micorosft.mashup.container.netFX45.exe" in PowerBI. Another user shared that page faults can occur due to memory being paged out or opening large files. It is important to check memory utilization, interaction with stored files, and user experience indicators. A specific user's issue was discussed and it was found that the page file was not significantly used.

Enhancing Desktop Alerts with Advanced Device Data and Google Chat Webhooks
ControlUp discusses using Google Chat and Gmail to send advanced desktop alerts with additional device data through webhooks. The new workflow will take a computer name from an alert, pull more data, and combine it into a single JSON payload, with the help of a List Devices node action to filter data based on device ID. Suggestions were given on how to use lists and add user information to the payload. A sample webhook and possible bug were also mentioned.

Using Variables in ControlUp Alerts
Some variables were suggested, but they didn't seem to work. However, an undocumented {scout.location} variable was found, thanks to a team member, and this can be used to show the Hive in alerts. It's now a matter of adding data.location under Input Variables. The team is also curious about the flow being built and the types of scouts and resources being tested.

Understanding Data Resolution at Intervals for ControlUp for Desktops / DAAS API Endpoints
A user asked about data resolution at intervals for the CU4VDI/DAAS API endpoints. They assumed the smallest sample would be 3 seconds, but were not sure. Another user clarified that for real-time data, the machine list and details endpoints are available, with a granularity that changes over time. They provided a link to the knowledge base for more information. The company plans to add new API endpoints for non-data pipeline, and potentially to pull real-time metrics in the future. There are also plans to add the ability to run actions from the API. A specific roadmap for these developments is not yet available.

Using Device ID in ControlUp Workflows
A user asked about the format used for Device ID. Another user suggested using the "associated_id" field and provided instructions on how to use it in subsequent nodes. They also mentioned using "{{Start.event.associated_id}}" in the Device ID field and mentioned it can be applied to any field that uses a Device ID. Another user tested this with Device Performance and confirmed it works. There was some confusion about the input array not showing the value, but others confirmed it works with associated_id.

Best Practices for Redundancy in ControlUp Components for VDI Onboarding
A discussion arose about best practices for redundancy of components for new clients onboarded for VDI. It was suggested to deploy at least 2 ControlUp Monitors and dedicated Data Collectors for failover mode, with configuration instructions provided in the relevant EUC / Hypervisors API connection. ControlUp has a sizing guideline for v8.x, found at https://support.controlup.com/docs/sizing-guidelines-for-controlup-v8-x, though it is advised to monitor with ControlUp and scale as needed.
